Dr. Pomper is a cofounder of and Scientific Advisor to Z-Alpha. He is also a Professor and the Chair of Radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He received undergraduate, graduate (organic chemistry) and medical degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He completed an internship (Osler Medical Service), residencies in radiology and nuclear medicine, and a fellowship in neuroradiology at Johns Hopkins University, where he remained a member of the faculty for nearly 30 years. His primary interests are in the development and translation of radiopharmaceutical-based imaging and therapeutic agents for cancer. His group synthesized the first small-molecule imaging agent targeting the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). He is the co-inventor of PYLARIFY®, the first commercial PSMA-targeted imaging agent approved by the FDA. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Inventors.
